Hi there! Long time no bark… Sorry guys but my hooman has been traveling a lot and was, again, rather busy. Nevertheless she managed to photograph lots of rescue doggies for the 2012 DCH ANIMAL ADOPTIONS CALENDAR.

A new forever home for BONO

Hello everyone! May I introduce you to BONO!? This little fellow came with his foster family (2 hoomans and 2 doggies) to my mums studio last weekend because his fosterhoomans had booked the photo shoot quite a while ago for themselves and their puppies. And then they decided to take Bono in. A extremely cute and despite the fact that he got neglected so badly very trusting dog. So my mum was more than happy to take additional pictures of him for the pet rescue page. She said he behaved like a little star: sat down and smiled in the camera or gazed into the distance for a profile shot. I would have loved to meet him (and the rest of the crew) but I was on a date with Dash while it all happened. Apparently to keep it all as calm as possible – AS IF I WOULD EVER STIR THINGS UP!

PS: from Tealc’s hooman: I’m certainly not a “fan” of small dogs – but this one stole my heart! He had so much love to give and everytime he looked at his fosterdaddy his big eyes said “thank you”. I think that was the first time ever that I would have said I take this dog despite his size. So I really hope he finds a loving forever home with a family that deserves him!

A washing machine for Monikas Doggie Rescue…

My hoomans, well no – my mum bought a new washing machine. Apparently one of the reasons was my smelly selfs bed… But I guess that was just an excuse. She wanted to have something more German with lots of buttons, different programs and temperatures you can adjust that is on top of all water sufficient and energy saving.
Anyway – our old washing mashine was still just working fine and had done a lot of washing work for Momikas Doggie rescue in the past. So we decided instead of putting it up on Ebay we might as well donate it to Monikas Doggie Rescue as they have been looking old washing machines before. So someone came to pic the machine up a couple of weeks ago and I, unfortunately wasn’t even allowed to supervise because he brought his doggy along who did the supervision PAH! I’m sure I would have done a better job…

Here we go, all clear!

1. Adopt a dog
All our dogs are health checked, desexed, micro-chipped & vaccinated. Click here for pictures and stories about all our rescued dogs. When you adopt a dog you are in effect saving 2 LIVES … by making a space for us to rescue another one!

2. Foster a dog
Doggierescue has recently lost its animal shelter and we have struggled to find suitable replacement premises. In the meantime we are totally reliant on foster carers to offer our rescue dogs a temporary home. Often this is only for a few weeks, or months. If you are not currently able to commit to adopting a pet please consider fostering a doggie– it’s an incredibly rewarding experience and YOU could make a huge difference! 3. Become a volunteer
Rescuing dogs means there is always a lot of work to do. Join our dedicated team of volunteers who are always in desperate need of extra hands to help care for our doggies. Click here to read more about current volunteer jobs.

E-Mail from Skelly’s dad

Ohhh – my mom got an e-mail from Skelly’s daddy saying thanks for the donation! Thank you Skelly for the mail and we hope you get well soon!!!
We have read on his bloggie that he reacted badly to his heart worm medication and had to go to the V-E-T again. It didn’t look good and my mom and me kept checking his blog yesterday every 10 minutes for updates as we are a little confused with all the time-zones our bloggie friends are on. Then today in the morning (over here at least) the good news: HE IS BETTER AND ON HIS WAY HOME!!!!! We are so glad! Skelly looks like such a lovely dog that just deserves to have a great life and a forever home!!!!!

We just received a comment from Pibble and when we went to her bloggie to say hello we found Skeletors bloggie. You gotta have a look at this gorgeous dog!!! He has had such a hard time before he found his new home but he looks like a really happy dog that just wants to enjoy his life and play. As most of our totally misunderstood kind!!!!

Skeletor is slowly putting weight on but still needs vet treatment as they have just discovered heartworm

PETITION! No more puppies should be sold in pet stores!

Im a “pet store puppy” and my mom rescued me because they wanted to put me down Why? Because I was sick and an inconvenience… My mom strongly disagrees with pet stores that sell live animals of all kinds and actually wouldn’t buy anything in those stores but lucky me that day she was in a hurry and needed a present for a friend’s cat! There I was sitting in one of those tiny glass boxes, underfed, unhappy, almost hairless and probably far to young to be away from my mom. (doggie-mom that is) I was so lucky that I looked like the dog my mom had before me – just a smaller version – so she couldn’t close her eyes and walk past. Once I was in her arms it was too late anyway as even with almost no fur I was rather cute!!!!

No I think dogs shouldn’t be sold in pet stores at all – what for?! There are so many dogs in shelters looking for a new home… The other thing is that those sad little puppies in pet stores are leading to impulse buys! People walk past, feel sorry and don’t know what they get themselves into. And even if the intention is a good one it seems that lots of people don’t know how to handle a puppy and hoe much work is involved in having a dog. I’m not sure if my mom would consider anymore getting a dog from breeder either but at least most of the decent breeders care about their dogs. They choose the families the dogs go to carefully and make sure that the little ones and the mom’s are happy and heathy. Now – that doesn’t really apply for the pet store breeders. Dogs there are mostly bread in puppy miles or from so called backyard breeders. There it is all about money.

A puppy or any animal isn’t a thing you just buy or a toy! So please – if you agree with me sign this PETITION!!!! It’s one that is running already since a while but I think we should all keep it up! Maybe at some point it will change something!!!! I also will keep looking for something more recent. If you know of anything – please let me know!

Monika’s Doggie Rescue – washing

If you want to do something good for the doggie shelter my mom supports how about you do some washing?! It is quite an easy but effective way to help them to manage there workload… They have so much blankets, towels and sheets that need washing and don’t have enough space to dry them afterwards. So the people working and volunteering there take some home and my mom also tries to pick a load up once a week. The great thing about Monika’s is that she changes the sheets every day! That is a LOT of washing to keep all the doggies happy and in a clean environment.
So if you want to help there are 3 ways:

1: log on to Monika’s page and see if you can make it there to pick up some washing. The shelter is located at 2 McCowan Rd cnr Bloodwood Rd, Inglesid (Sydney’s Northern Beaches) CLICK HERE FOR DIRECTIONS

2. if you live in Alexandria or surrounding suburbs contact me (write a comment) and my mom will get back to you asap. You can tell her how much washing you are prepared to do and she will drop it off at your place and pick it up again once it is done.

Staffy Rescue in Sydney

I’m on a mission again! There are 2 beautiful organizations in Sydney that help dogs: Monika’s doggie rescue which I have been writing about before (HERE) and www.staffyrescue.org.au and both are worth supporting. Mina & Anthony Melman the founders of the Staffy rescue are looking after 25-30 dogs at the time trying to find now loving homes for them. My mom has only been to Monika’s Doggie Rescue so far, just to see what it is like and how she can help. But I guess the Staffy place is next on the list. And who knows?! Maybe I’m getting a new brother or sister?! How exciting!!!! Anyway guys – again I’m asking you to have a look at the linked page and to consider to make a donation. Not all puppies are as lucky as I was and they need help!!!!

Monika’s Doggie Rescue and I’m back!

Hi world – I’m back! I know it has been rather quiet here but my mom was too busy doing other stuff… Well and now that I’m back – I’m on a doggie mission! Guys we need to raise some money for all the dogs out there that have no home and waiting for a loving family to adopt them!!!

My mom has just signed up for a sponsorship with Monika’s Doggie Rescue that is located at the Northern Beaches in Sydney. It is such an easy way to help… Just give up on your Foxtel and do something good! Here is the LINK to the donation page. In order to keep their business up and running they need 750 DOGGIE RESCUE LIFE SAVERS! So far they have 480. Well – 481 with my mom!

Come on guys – it’s just a click away. And my mom has been at the place and she says the money is in extremely good hands. Monika is a lovely person who deserves a whole bookshelf full of awards for what she is doing!!!!!! You don’t have to give 49 bucks a month – every cent counts. We really want to keep that place up and running!!!!
