Feeding of the beasts

“Dinnertime” is one of my favourite words. Or maybe it is every dogs favourite word?! DINNERTIME! Wooohhhooo… Let’s go and sit nicely in front of the kitchen by the first “clang” of the food bowls. :) Full of expectation!

Well, to be honest, I have calmed down quite a bit because by now I know that the “clang” noise is only the beginning. First my organic heart mince goes in, then the blender noise follows where my mum blends my fresh veggies and if I’m lucky I get an egg on top. Maybe some linseeds, organic oil and parsley. OK, no parsley. Even my hooman wouldn’t go that far :)

So my time to sit, look cute and stare a bit starts when I hear the “clang” of the spoon stirring my food. Bottom line – I think I’m on a pretty healthy diet and I get lots of compliments in the park for my exceptionally super shiny fur. (The girls love it too!)

And on todays menu is: eggs, heart mince, raw pumpkin, carrots and apples

All of us nicely lined up. Bessie first to finish, then me, Max takes 10 minutes to eat!

Same from behind... My hooman only has to watch Bessie because the moment she is done she will go for anything else she can find.

You are lucky, Teal’c, as your mommy does whip up a delicious dinner… organic heart mince sounds so yummy! I can’t have carrot as I’m allergic to beta-carotene :( … you do have nice shiny fur, better than those shampoo commercials on tv ;)

I guess I am lucky – hey!? But my mum says it only takes 3.5 min longer then to put dryfood in the bowl and is so much better for me. I certainly do agree…

Allergic to beta-carotene?! You poor thing :( Let’s hope your eyesight stays good then ;) (OK – not sure if you actually know this one – common German urban myth: if you eat lots of carrots you won’t need glasses…)

  • wow!!! such awesome food!! my poochies and i don’t eat so well.. i couldn’t prepare anything in the kitchen if my life depended on it!!

    • Master Teal'c says:

My mum was the same until she got married ;) You might wanna give that one a go!

      PS from Tealc’s mum:
Even before then – I couldn’t prepare a healthy dinner for myself but my dog used to get one… Priorities ;)

  • TEN minutes? I think the entire Herd combined does not take 10 minutes.

    • Master Teal'c says:

Yeah – the big girl (Bessie) inhales it, I have to be quick because of her but Max takes his time… Dunno why. His mouth is big enough to eat it all in one go incl. the bowl… :)

  • We do pre-prepared raw food, but we’ve been investigating some other options that might be cheaper. Do you have different recipes for different days? How much do you have to prepare in advance?

    • Master Teal'c says:

Oh hiya, Tealc’s mom here… That is almost another bolg post :) I guess I will do that one for you next week in detail.

      The short version:
      - I change it a bit each day
      - I don’t pre-prepare except from freezing and defrosting the meat
      - and it isn’t expensive at all if you talk to your butcher. I mean, not sure about Chicago but here they don’t sell heart mince for any other purpose, same in Germany so it is a matter of finding the right one that like dogs :)

Most of the stuff is easy and even with blending the veggies it doesn’t take more then 3-5min every evening.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I usually get some fun foodables on top of my kibbles like fruits or vegies or yogurt or even sardines! Kind of like having a four course meal.

  • Oh Yummy! We don’t eat raw but mom makes the stuff she mixes with our kibble!

  • Kassha says:

You make up some gourmet meals for your dogs! Geesh! That is awesome!

  • Mayziegal says:

That sure does look nummy, Teal’C. My mom would luvs to feed me and Brudder Ranger like that but she gets nervous that she wouldn’t do it right and we’d be missing out on some of our – what does she calls it? – dietary needs. You are obviously NOT missing any dietary needs cuz you looks spectacular. Did your mom do lotsa research?

We gets a real high quality kibble and then mom also puts in green tripe (OMD! Have you had any of this? It is like the best thing ever!) and some salmon oil.

Oh! And what happens when you takes a trip? Does your mom take all that stuff with her, too?

    Wiggles & Wags,
    mayzie

    • Master Teal'c says:

Hiya Mayzie! So many questions :) I think my mom has just decided to write more on dog food in the future…

      Tealc’s Mum:

Green Tripe is one of the best things you can feed your dog! We just haven’t found out where to get hold of it in Australia… And being a vegetarian some research on the net just isn’t pleasant at all… :( You can get it in Germany and Max’s dad knows it from England. So I guess I’ll have to put it on my to do list :)

Hey and Mayzie – tell your mum that I did a lot of research and one of the conclusions I cam to was that no one needs or gets a 100% balanced meal every day. Otherwise 100% balanced fruits would grow on trees :)
