Forget flowers this Valentine’s, help the Moon Bears!

img_aaf_news_04_02042010Hello everyone! It is Valentines Day soon – that is the day when hoomans that love each other give flowers to each other… Well, at least that is how I understand it. Now, I’m a doggy and I do not need no flowers and there are other animals that don’t need flowers either but could do with a bunch of green stuff!
Me and my hoomans support a organization called ANIMALS ASIA FOUNDATION and there we have fallen in love with the Moon Bears. That means I have an adoptive sister called Heather and she and her brothers and sisters need food.
So let’s all convince our hoomans not to buy flowers for Valentines Day but a bunch of browse for the bears – how does that sound? It is a one off thing for AD 25 and will make a bear very happy!!!!!!
What better way to send your love than by helping the bears and spreading the word about their plight?
You can download a gorgeous e-card explaining the gift that you can send on to your loved one or print out and personalise more. So if you still need a last-minute gift, instead of sending flowers or chocolates ……. say it with browse!

Thanks and lots of slobbers Teal’c

E-Mail from Animals Asia Founder and CEO: Jill Robinson

Don’t be left in the doghouse this Valentine’s Day – there’s still time to surprise your loved one with an extra-special gift with meaning. Buy a bunch of browse for the bears and give it on behalf of your loved one! And you can organise it right away, with just a few clicks.

Browse is a big part of the rescued bears’ rehabilitation and ongoing enrichment programme. Bunches of banana leaves, bamboo shoots, slender pine, spruce, fir and willow branches, straw and native grasses are just some of the ever-changing selection of browse we spread around their dens and outdoor enclosures.

Each morning, huge bunches of browse arrive at our sanctuaries in China and Vietnam. The daily browse is like a breath of fresh air, piled high on the back of tricycles peddled in from nearby villages, where locals gather or grow the plants to sell to us. For some, this is their only income.

Sadly the bears rescued from bile farms could never survive in the wild – browse gives them a precious taste of the forests. As soon as their noses start to twitch, it’s easy to see how much they love it…. they chew it, roll in it, and sniff the different aromas. And all this helps to keep their recovering minds and bodies active.

So please, this Valentine’s Day, think of the bears. Your donation of $25 will buy them a BIG Bunch of Browse, or for $50 you can give them an even bigger BEAR-SIZE Bunch of Browse (to them, the equivalent of a dozen red roses!).

You can download a gorgeous e-card explaining the gift that you can send on to your loved one or print out and personalise more. So if you still need a last-minute gift, instead of sending flowers or chocolates ……. say it with browse!

What better way to send your love than by helping the bears and spreading the word about their plight? Thanks as always and Happy Valentine’s!

Bear hugs,

Jill
