Im a “pet store puppy” and my mom rescued me because they wanted to put me down 
Why? Because I was sick and an inconvenience… My mom strongly disagrees with pet stores that sell live animals of all kinds and actually wouldn’t buy anything in those stores but lucky me that day she was in a hurry and needed a present for a friend’s cat! There I was sitting in one of those tiny glass boxes, underfed, unhappy, almost hairless and probably far to young to be away from my mom. (doggie-mom that is) I was so lucky that I looked like the dog my mom had before me – just a smaller version – so she couldn’t close her eyes and walk past. Once I was in her arms it was too late anyway as even with almost no fur I was rather cute!!!!
No I think dogs shouldn’t be sold in pet stores at all – what for?! There are so many dogs in shelters looking for a new home… The other thing is that those sad little puppies in pet stores are leading to impulse buys! People walk past, feel sorry and don’t know what they get themselves into. And even if the intention is a good one it seems that lots of people don’t know how to handle a puppy and hoe much work is involved in having a dog. I’m not sure if my mom would consider anymore getting a dog from breeder either but at least most of the decent breeders care about their dogs. They choose the families the dogs go to carefully and make sure that the little ones and the mom’s are happy and heathy. Now – that doesn’t really apply for the pet store breeders. Dogs there are mostly bread in puppy miles or from so called backyard breeders. There it is all about money.
A puppy or any animal isn’t a thing you just buy or a toy! So please – if you agree with me sign this PETITION!!!! It’s one that is running already since a while but I think we should all keep it up! Maybe at some point it will change something!!!! I also will keep looking for something more recent. If you know of anything – please let me know!

I totally agree that puppies should not be sold in pet stores as too many puppies end-up being victims of impulsive buying… and we are talking about a life here, a life with feelings just like any humans… I always cry reading this.

It’s ridiculous how much a succession of NSW Ministers for Local Government keep rolling out new policies to clamp down on dog ownership, yet do little to sponsor preventive measures or public education.

I must admit I have huge difficulties reading pages like that. I know my numbers and I know what’s out there but reading articles and looking at pics gives me sleepless nights. (I’m usually quite tough, but animals are my soft spot!) I JSUT DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE CAN BE CRUEL TO ANIMALS! And as Teal’c has been scared shitless in small rooms and on concrete floors at the beginning I don’t want to know how he spend his first few weeks…
